Firing program
When internal program or burning software refers to computer programs for writing ( burning ) of optical storage media by means of a burner . Common storage media are CDs , DVDs and Blu-ray Discs .
Burning software can either save its own files on a storage medium or copy entire storage media such as DVD films. Different options for data storage are possible: The pure data CD / DVD, the music CD , the video DVD or the bootable CD / DVD. Memory images can also be implemented with firing programs . Burning programs are also used for data security ( backup ).
With the advent of CD burners, users were given the opportunity to copy software and music CDs to the exact bit, which at times was often tried to prevent using copy protection devices .
Applications of burning programs
Firing programs are used for different purposes, for example to create:
- Audio CDs : CD with audio tracks (music, audio books, ...),
- Photo CDs: CD with photos (e.g .: Kodak Photo CD ),
- DVD-Video : DVD with a video (film) or
- Data CD / DVD: CD / DVD with data from / for computer (e.g. data backup ).
Methods for writing to optical media
Optical memories can be written to in different modes.
- Disc-at-once : burns the entire disc in one go, preferably used for duplicating discs.
- Track-at-once : writing individual tracks with a pause between tracks on the media.
- Session-At-Once : creates one or more tracks in a session (burning process / working period), whereby a data carrier can hold several sessions ( multisession CD ).
- Packet writing : writes data in small units on the optical data carrier as required, as is usually the case with magnetic data carriers ( hard disk , floppy ).
