ImgBurn is a freeware - burning program , which since 2005 by the software manufacturer LIGHTNING UK! is being developed. When installed, it is no larger than 3.10 MB .
history
On October 4th, 2005 the first final version 1.0.0.0 was published. CSS encryption and copy protection mechanisms cannot be removed for legal reasons, although the former was still possible with the predecessor product DVD Decrypter . From version 2.5.1.0, ImgBurn included the Ask toolbar as an optional adware (which can be deselected during installation) . Version 2.5.8.0 contains the OpenCandy adware module in the installer , which under certain circumstances installs additional software on the computer without being asked for and cannot be deselected; good antivirus programs could also block the installation. Therefore ImgBurn should be installed from the command line with the option / nocandy, i.e. (with version 2.5.8.0) SetupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe / nocandy .

Functions
ImgBurn can copy DVDs and CDs , verify them and burn individual files onto a data carrier . ISO images can also be created and burned, data carriers formatted, deleted and checked. The software supports the formats BIN , CDI, CDR, CUE, DVD, GCM, GI, IBQ, IMG, ISO , LST, MDS, NRG, PDI, UDI and even more.
Distribution and use
ImgBurn became known for its support of many formats and images for HD-DVD and Blu-ray and its wide range of functions. It is also successful because it supports many functions that are usually only available for a fee.
restrictions
- Burning and copying of multisession CDs is not possible with ImgBurn.
- Reading and writing of subchannel data is not supported.
- Media cannot be copied directly; beforehand, an image file (.iso) must first be created from the data carrier, which can then be written to an empty data carrier.
