WinOnCD is a CD / DVD burning program from Roxio , a subsidiary of the US software group Sonic Solutions . It was developed by the German company CeQuadrat , which was bought by Adaptec in 1999 ; Roxio was spun off as an independent company from Adaptec in 2001 , the software division was sold on to Sonic Solutions in 2004 .

WinOnCD owes its widespread use in Europe to the fact that it was included as an OEM product on many CD and DVD burners and thus found its way to the end user. Only with the sale of CeQuadrat and the new edition by Roxio does the product lose its independence, because WinOnCD from version 8 is identical to the internationally marketed “Easy Media Creator” of the same version and is only sold as “WinOnCD” in German-speaking countries. Collection of programs called with each new version of the now "Creator" ( Engl. 3.8 2000/11 This is the first version already from Roxio . For the first time, it supports overburning of blank CDs. Another new feature is the ability to burn Super Video CDs. Adaptec 's DirectCD is included as packet writing software and thus replaces PacketCD. A bug fix from Roxio to establish Windows XP compatibility is no longer available.
5 2001/11 For the first time, "WinOnCD 5 Power Edition" has full Windows XP compatibility; A new addition is the ability to authorize DVDs .
6th 2002/11 "WinOnCD 6 DVD-Edition" showed a fundamentally revised surface and supported Windows 98 , Me , 2000 and XP . 2010 2009/08 Identical to "Roxio Creator 2010", WinOnCD now supports the encoding of video material with GPGPU support by ATI Stream or Nvidia CUDA , which should accelerate the process up to five times. The outdated drag-to-disc has been replaced by Burn . With Video Copy & Convert , films and Internet videos can be converted into common A / V formats, for example for the PlayStation 3 or the iPhone. Full Blu-Ray support is only available at an additional cost. In the “Special Edition” Roxio includes a USB adapter for converting analog audio and video data. The WinOnCD video converter is also available as a separate program.
