KMA is a radio station based in Shenandoah , Iowa. The station covers the American Midwest .

Shenandoah is the hometown of the Earl May Seed Company . The company founded the radio station KMA and later KFNF. KMA transmits on 960 kHz with 5 kW. The program is simulcasted by the VHF station KMA-FM.

The program consists of in-house productions and the news channel from ABC News Radio and the Westwood One offer.

history

The station was founded in 1925 by businessman Earl May. The Earl May Seed and Nursery Company is still closely associated with the station to this day.

From 1945 to 1952, Ike and Margaret Everly, the parents of the Everly Brothers at KMA, presented a daily radio show. The show became known as "The Everly Family Show". The sons Don and Phil Everly also appeared on the show from time to time.

In 2010, KMA Broadcasting put the VHF station KMA-FM on 99.1 MHz into operation. The transmitter is licensed with 100 kW in Clarinda , Iowa. The company also owns Hometown Cable in southwest Iowa.

The Earl May Seed and Nursery Company is still family owned.
