Shenandoah is a city on the border between Page County and Fremont Counties in the US state of Iowa . It is located about 90 km southeast of Omaha ( Nebraska ). At the 2000 census, Shenandoah had 5,546 people and a size of 9.0 km².
Shenandoah is the hometown of the Earl May Seed Company and the radio broadcaster KMA , which was founded by Earl May. The stations KMA and KFNF are two of the oldest radio stations in the United States and have listeners throughout the Midwest . From 1945 to 1952, Ike and Margaret Everly, parents of the Everly Brothers , presented a daily radio show on KMA that became known as The Everly Family Show . The sons Don and Phil Everly were also integrated into the broadcasting scheme.
Shenandoah is twinned with Tisovec in Slovakia .
Jazz double bass player, composer and band leader Charlie Haden was born in Shenandoah.
