Reiko Tosa
Reiko Tosa ( Japanese 土 佐 礼 子 Tosa Reiko ; born June 11, 1976 in Matsuyama ) is a Japanese long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon .
In 1999 she was fifth at the World Half Marathon Championships in her personal best of 1:09:36 h. In 2000 she finished second in both the Nagoya Marathon and the Tokyo International Women's Marathon .
In the marathon of the World Athletics Championships 2001 in Edmonton, she took silver behind Lidia Șimon (ROM) and ahead of Svetlana Sakharova (RUS).
In 2002 she set her personal best of 2:22:46 h as fourth in the London Marathon . In the marathon of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, for which she had qualified with a win at the Nagoya Marathon that year, she was fifth.
In 2006 she finished third in the Boston Marathon and won the Tokyo International Women's Marathon. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka she won bronze third behind Catherine Ndereba (Kenya) and Zhou Chunxiu (China).
Reiko Tosa is 1.65 m tall and has a competition weight of 51 kg. She starts for the team at the insurance company Mitsui Sumitomo .
