KPFK Radio powered by the people is a US radio station in North Hollywood , Los Angeles in southern California . It belongs to the free Pacifica Radio Network . KPFK broadcasts on VHF 90.7 MHz with 110 kW from the summit of Mount Wilson. KPFK is one of the strongest stations on the west coast of the USA and can be heard from the Mexican border via Santa Barbara to Ridgecrest on China Lake .

KPFA went on the air as the second station on Pacifica Radio in 1959 and now broadcasts a mixture of local and international news and a music program. The Pacifica Foundation is the owner and operator .

From 1989 to 1995 KPFK broadcast the program "Green Perspectives" by the Green Radio Collective . The collective is close to the Green Party . Moderator was u. a. the politician Mike Feinstein.
