KPFA - "Community Powered Radio" is a US radio station in Berkeley , California . It belongs to the free Pacifica Radio Network . The station transmits on ultra-short wave (FM) 94.1 M Hz with 59 k W .

The radio station began broadcasting as the first station on the Pacifica Radio Network in 1949, and today it broadcasts a mix of regional and international news, Berkeley community topics, and music programs. Mostly unpaid volunteers, so-called "community volunteers", work for him. The Pacifica Foundation is the owner and operator .
