Koninklijk Racing Waregem , also known by the abbreviations KRC Waregem or K. Racing Waregem , is a Belgian football club from the West Flanders town of Waregem .

history

KRC Waregem was founded in 1941 as Racing Kleithoek , but changed its name to Racing Waregem in 1943, when it joined the Belgian Football Association in 1943 under the serial number 3302 .

From 1944 the club took part in official competitions and played in the Vierde Provinciale , the lowest class. After winning the championship title here in 1961, they commuted between the various regional league levels over the next few years.

After receiving the royal attribute for the 50th anniversary and having had the current name since then, it was not until 1997 that qualification for the Vierde class / Division 4 succeeded for the first time , from which one had to relegate after only one season. After the regional championship succeeded in 2001, they returned and immediately took second place. However, it took until 2004 before they got into the third division. After only two years there, the club made it to the second division in 2006 by winning the promotion round. However, you only stayed there for a year and then relegated. In 2013 he was relegated to the fourth division and two years later to division five.

Since the league reform in 2016, the club has played in the sixth class Provincial West-Vlaanderen .
