KV44 ( Valley of the Kings , grave no. 44) is a small shaft grave in the Valley of the Kings. The owner of the grave is unknown.

Construction details

The grave consists of only one small chamber, which can be reached via a shaft. The undecorated chamber measures approximately 5 x 6 m. The grave probably originates from the 18th dynasty and was laid out for a high official. However, this burial was robbed in ancient times.

exploration

Grave KV44 was found on January 26, 1901 by Howard Carter digging for Theodore M. Davis . When it was found, however, the chamber contained three coffins which date back to the 22nd dynasty and which were apparently brought here after the first robbery. The coffin of the Tentkerians contained a well-preserved and colorfully painted cardboard box . The other coffins belonged to Heiufaa and a singer from Amun .

KV44 was re-exposed in 1990 and 1991 by Donald P. Ryan for Pacific Lutheran University .
