KWK Gabrovo (Bulgarian: КВК Габрово) is a Bulgarian volleyball club from the city of Gabrovo . The club has been playing in the Bulgarian Super League since the 2010/11 season. The full name of the association is "Коко Волей Клуб, Gabrovo". The club's main sponsor is a leading Bulgarian financial institution: Bromak EOOD (Limited Liability Company).

founding

In 2006 the male team was founded, which in the same year made a successful entry into the third Bulgarian volleyball league. In the following year, the team was able to qualify for promotion to the second division for the 2007/08 season. In 2008 the men's team from KWK Gabrovo was promoted to the first Bulgarian volleyball league. The association formed teams for children and adolescents who have regularly participated in domestic tournaments since it was founded .

The current sporting development of KWK Gabrovo

For the 2012/13 season the club celebrated its first success as runner-up in the Bulgarian championship. In 2013 KWK Gabrovo won against the Bulgarian national cadet team on the occasion of a charity match. In September 2013, the new season of the Bulgarian Super League, the runner-up KWK Gabrovo started with a win and won in his second game against "Dobruja 07". In the fifth game of the season, the team from Gabrovo also defeated the traditional club "Levski Ball" (Bulgarian Левски Бол) 3-2. During the winter break, the club was third in the Bulgarian volleyball super league with a total of eleven points.

European tournaments

The club played three times in the Challenge Cup , the third-highest European Cup competition for club teams in volleyball. In 2010/11 , the club recorded a win against the Albanian champions “Studenti Tirana”, with which KWK Gabrovo was able to qualify for the second round, but against the Czech representative VK Dukla Liberec after 3: 1, 1: 3 and a 10:15 lost in the "Golden Set". In 2011/12 KWK Gabrovo was eliminated from the tournament after two defeats against Nea Salamis Famagusta from Cyprus. In 2012/13 KWK Gabrowo defeated the Czech club SPPCZ Brno and the Swiss club Chênois Geneva, making the club reach the round of 16 for the first time in its history. In the round of 16 KWK Gabrovo lost to the Italian club Copra Piacenza .

In the 2013/14 season , KWK Gabrovo played for the first time in the CEV Cup , the second-highest European Cup competition for club teams in volleyball . KWK Gabrowo won against Volley Team Bratislava and Prefaxis Menen and reached the quarter-finals. Here KWK Gabrovo won 3-2 in the home game against the Turkish representative from Ankara , but was eliminated from the competition due to a 1-3 defeat in Turkey.
