Concentration camp cemetery
A concentration camp cemetery is its own cemetery , usually with corresponding memorial stones, on which inmates from German concentration camps are buried. These concentration camp cemeteries are very often related to the death marches that the inmates of the German concentration camps were forced to take shortly before the end of the Second World War .
In Germany there are concentration camp cemeteries mainly in southern Germany, in the states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria . In both federal states, in addition to their own concentration camp cemeteries, there are numerous concentration camp graves in other respective cemeteries and concentration camp memorials in which concentration camp victims are buried.

In October 2011, an extensive documentation of all Bavarian concentration camp cemeteries and memorials in Bavaria was published for the first time, which was compiled by historian Constanze Werner on behalf of the palace administration. Since 2013, responsibility for the concentration camp cemeteries has been with the Bavarian Memorials Foundation .
