Kai-Uwe Hemken

Kai-Uwe Hemken (* 1962 ) is a German art scholar and university professor at the Kassel Art College .

Hemken studied art history , philosophy and literature at the Universities of Marburg and Munich. In 1994 he received his doctorate with a thesis on El Lissitzky and in 2004 he received his habilitation with a thesis on contemporary memory art since 1960 ( Gerhard Richter , Jochen Gerz , Hanne Darboven ). Since 2005 he has been teaching as professor for art history (20th century) at the Kassel Art College. There he heads the art history course.
