Iridium acetylacetonate is a chemical compound of iridium from the group of acetylacetonate .
Extraction and presentation
Iridium acetylacetonate can be obtained by reacting iridium (III) hydroxide or iridium (III) chloride with acetylacetone .
properties
Iridium acetylacetonate is an orange solid that is practically insoluble in water. It has a monoclinic crystal structure with the space group P 2 1 / b (space group no. 14, position 4) .
use
Iridium acetylacetonate is used as a photo-reducing agent, as a starting material for the production of Ir-C thin films and as a catalyst for the hydrogenation of sulfur-containing compounds. It is also used in various catalytic reactions in organic synthesis, including carbon nanostructures.
