Kai Oswald (born November 29, 1977 in Geislingen an der Steige ) is a former German football player . In 2009 he worked as a trainer in the youth division of VfB Stuttgart . Since November 25, 2015 he has been the assistant coach of the first team at VfB.

Since the winter break of the 2005/06 season he was active at SpVgg Unterhaching . Before that he played for Karlsruher SC (2004/05 season and first half of 2005/06), for MSV Duisburg (2003/04), Hannover 96 (2002/03), Hansa Rostock (1999–2002), VfB Stuttgart (1993– 1999), the SC Geislingen (until 1993) and the TG Böhmenkirch . In his career, the defender played 73 first division games and scored three goals. During the winter break of the 2006/07 season, Oswald moved to league rivals FC Carl Zeiss Jena . There he made a very unfortunate debut. Against Kickers Offenbach he headed an own goal and brought the Jenaer to Loser Street. A few minutes later he suffered such a severe cruciate ligament injury that he could not play any more games. After the end of the 2007/2008 season, no new contract offer was presented to him and he ended his career.
