Kaiser Jubilee (waltz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaiser-Jubiläum is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 434). The work was performed for the first time on December 2, 1888 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The work should not be confused with the Kaiser Waltz, Op. 437, which was published a year later. The waltz imperial jubilee was the occasion of the 40th jubilee of Emperor I. Franz Joseph wrote. It was performed 40 years to the day after the Emperor's accession to the throne on December 2, 1848, on the occasion of a gala concert in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein. The emperor himself was not present. Strauss, who at the time was thinking of composing operas, now also tried to expand his waltzes to include symphonic music. The Kaiser Jubilee Waltz is one of the works of this type. Incidentally, the composer's attempt to compose operas ended in a fiasco. His first and only opera Ritter Pásmán was a failure.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 9 minutes and 13 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
