Kaiser Arnulfsfest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kaiser Arnulfsfest in the market town of Moosburg is one of the largest folk festivals in Carinthia . Since 1986 it has taken place every year on the 2nd weekend in July and now extends over three days. A big pageant, entertainment in the marquee, lots of music and an open-air disco are the main program items of the festival. For several years now, the finale of “The Voice of Carinthia” has also been taking place at the Kaiser Arnulfsfest.

One of the highlights of the event is the parade in the afternoon, which leads through the whole village and is accompanied by moderation. The participants in the parade come from Germany and abroad and are mostly associations, music groups, traditional costumes or traditional groups from the market town itself, the surrounding region or from the German twin towns of Maintal , Moosburg an der Isar and Katerini in Greece.

history

The Arnulfsfest owes its name to the Carolingian family Arnulf of Carinthia . He was Emperor of the Roman Empire and King of East Franconia and lived in Moosburg for several years in the 9th century. Once a year the market town revives the Emperor Arnulf and the Carolingian tradition with the Kaiser Arnulfsfest.
