The Kaiser Quartet (emerged from the Strings DeLuxe group in 2012 ) is a German string quartet that was founded in Hamburg in 2004. It mainly plays contemporary music .

history

Founded in 2004 under the name Strings DeLuxe , the ensemble specialized in studio recordings in the areas of charts, film and cinema music, often in collaboration with arranger Wolf Kerschek . Live performances increasingly followed, and in 2011 the quartet began working with Canadian Grammy winner Chilly Gonzales . In 2015, the joint album Chambers was released and the subsequent tour led to concert halls in Europe. Further collaborations took place with Jarvis Cocker , Linda Perry , BOY, Anna Ternheim, Kettcar, Socalled, Daniel Hope , Fred Wesley and Gregory Porter . There were performances u. a. at the Edinburgh International Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival , Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , Wiener Festwochen , Rheingau Music Festival , JAZZMI Milano and Kampnagel International Summer Festival. In August 2019, the band released the first self-titled album Kaiser Quartett on PIAS Records.
