Imperial oak (Kottenforst)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The imperial oak is a natural monument in the Kottenforst near Bonn - Röttgen .

The imperial oak was planted by the then Prince Wilhelm of Prussia (who later became Kaiser Wilhelm II ) on June 19, 1879 "by hand". It is intended to serve as a reminder of the joys he enjoyed in this area.

Next to the imperial oak there is also the Prince Friedrich oak planted on July 19, 1904. Both oaks are at the crossroads where the hunter's house is. The oaks and the hunter's lodge are popular excursion destinations not far from the archaeological monument Ringwall Venne .
