Kaká Werá

Kaká Werá Jecupé (born February 1, 1964 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian writer and politician of the Parido Verde (Greens). He belongs to the Kayapo tribe (Txucarramãe, also known as Caiapós-mecranotis).

Kaká Werá, formerly Carlos Alberto dos Santos's real name, founded the Instituto Arapoty , is involved in the social network Ashoka de Empreendedores Sociais and works as a consultant to Bovespa Social & Ambiental . Since 1998 he has also taught at the Universidade da Paz (Unipaz) and the Fundação Peirópolis . As an anthropologist and environmentalist, he has lectured in England, the United States, Israel, India, México and France.

Kaká Werá was elected Senator for the state of São Paulo for the Brazilian Green Party in 2014 , but only received 186,598 votes (0.97%). In 2018 he switched to the Rede Sustentabilidade party .
