The Kalinin Prospect ( Russian: Проспект Калинина ; German: "Kalinin Avenue") is one of seven prospectuses in the city and a four-lane street in Kaliningrad .

course

The prospect runs along the northern edge of the Südpark in the south of the city on the Haberberg and is planted with chestnuts. The street follows the former Friedländer Wallstraße. The prospectus begins at the Ulitsa Dserschinskowo ( Russian Улица Дзержинского dt .: " Dzerzhinsky -Straße"), crossing the Oktyabrskaya Ulitsa (russ .: Октябрьская улица dt .: "Street of October") and empties into the Leninski Prospekt ( Russian: Ленинский проспект ).

The prospectus also includes the Ploschad Kalinina (Russian Площадь Калинина , German: "Kalininplatz") at the western beginning of the street, the former Reichsplatz. Today's " Südbahnhof " (former "Hauptbahnhof") is located at Kalininplatz . The full length of the prospectus belongs to the A194 trunk road .

The former " Königsberger Hauptbahnhof " (today "Südbahnhof") is located at pl. Kalinina. The building was erected in 1929 in the brick expressionist style. A large ogival window dominates the front, which is divided by eight vertical travertine pillars. Today it is called "Südbahnhof" due to the relocation of the city center to the northwest. In the post-war period, the figure of Chronos von Brachert above the portal was removed and replaced by the coat of arms of the Russian SFSR . The building was completely renovated by the Kaliningrad city architect Alexander Bashin in 2005 for the 750th anniversary of the city. Trains run via Gdynia to Berlin, Moscow , Saint Petersburg and Sochi .
