Lime kilns Cox
The lime kilns Cox are relics from the time when the Paffrather Kalkmulde still lime was burned. You are on the corner of Johann-Wilhelm-Lindlar-Strasse and Jakobstrasse in the city center of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The entrepreneur Jakob Cox had lime kilns at various locations in Bergisch Gladbach , which he successfully operated. In order to get closer to the quarries on Marienhöhe on Reuterstraße, he applied for a license to build two lime kilns on the so-called Keller'schen Busch on February 2, 1852, which was granted to him on April 28, 1852. In 1858 a third furnace was added to the area. Overall, the system worked very successfully and remained in operation until 1958. The close proximity to Bergisch Gladbach train station made it possible to transport the finished products and fuel at low cost.
