Kallie Knoetze (* 24. April 1953 in Pretoria , South Africa as Nikolaas Jacobus Knoetze ) is a former South African heavyweight boxer.

amateur

Boxed as an amateur Knoetze six times against his compatriot and later WBA world champion in the heavyweight Gerrie Coetzee and was able to record three wins.

Professional career

Knoetze was able to win his first six professional fights early. In his seventh fight he was disqualified against the Argentinean Reinaldo Raul Gorosito in round five and had to accept his first professional defeat. In the next fight he met the unbeaten Gerrie Coetzee, who at that time had only 13 professional fights and was considered his permanent opponent by the amateurs. Knoetze had to admit defeat on points after 10 rounds.

In the following year he beat Reinaldo Raul Gorosito on points, against whom he had lost a year earlier by disqualification (Gorosito was also the only one who beat Knoetze on points, he won all other fights he won by knockout), and defeated the Briton Richard Dunn by knockout in round 5. In his next fight he knocked out the Pan-American champions from 1971 and Stevenson and Holmes defender Duane Bobick (record 40-1-0) in the third round

In 1979 he knocked Bill Sharkey heavily and suffered his first knockout defeat against John Tate , who was able to secure the WBA world champion in his next fight over the unbeaten Gerrie Cotzee. This bankruptcy against Tate was very bitter and set him far back; he was never able to build on previous performances and received a total of three more defeats by knockout, including his last fight.

Movies

Between 1979 and 1981, Kallie Knoetze acted in a total of four films. His most famous was The Bomber with Bud Spencer .
