Kallistratos (grammarian)

Kallistratos was an Alexandrian grammarian of antiquity. He lived around the middle of the 2nd century BC. And was a pupil of Aristophanes of Byzantium , which is why he was also called Aristophaneios .

Kallistratos was mainly concerned with the criticism and explanation of Homer and the dramatic poets. However, his writings are only known from numerous quotations that can be found in later scholia .
