Kaltenhausen [ Kaltn̩ˈhaʊ̯zn̩ ] is a residential area of the city of Havelsee and belongs within the city legally to the district of Briest . It is located south of the village of Briest on state road 962 .

history

Kaltenhausen was first mentioned in 1541 as a sheep farm without naming a name. In 1580 the hamlet was first called Kaltenhausen. It is believed that the name is derived from cold, i.e. abandoned houses. Furthermore, it is believed that there was desertification in the area. Even in later years, Kaltenhausen consisted only of a sheep farm. Until 1772 Briest and with him Kaltenhausen belonged to the Plaue estate or office , which was the closest town to the south, and in 1772 it went to the city of Brandenburg, which owned it until the 19th century.

More recently, Kaltenhausen has become attractive for home builders due to its location directly on the Havel, and some single-family and weekend houses have been built.
