Kalvarienberg Reicholzried

The Kalvarienberg Reicholzried is a way of the cross laid out in 1900 on a small hill northeast of Reicholzried , which was supplemented two years later by a neo-Gothic chapel made of red brick. The initiator of the Way of the Cross was Pastor Zientner.

The stained glass windows of the Bockholm senior chapel. in Munich represent the secrets of the Sorrowful Rosary . In the altar shrine there is a holy grave with the dead Christ.

The pyrography on the paneled ceiling with fifteen linden wood panels based on old German models are unique for a chapel . The prophet Jonas rests in the lowest field. The tree of salvation grows out of his body . God the Father is enthroned above. In between, a whole cosmos unfolds, the event of salvation according to the Gospel, a globe, the village of Reicholzried, the newly built Calvary , the course of the Iller, the Schwarzenbach bridge, the parish church, a little mouse, a bird family, etc.
