Housing of a single lens reflex camera with the lens removed

The camera body , just as housing or Anglizismus body is in the photograph , the central component of a system camera .

Every camera has a housing, but the term camera housing is mostly used in connection with single-lens reflex cameras , mirrorless cameras and viewfinder cameras with interchangeable lenses . With analog cameras, the housing contains at least the transport mechanism for the film and the lens connection , with digital camera systems at least the image sensor . In most cases, the shutter and the viewfinder system are also integrated. Then the user only needs a lens, a medium (film or memory card) and batteries so that the camera is ready for use.
