Kamień (unit)

Kamien was a Polish measure of weight and meant stone. A distinction was made between light and heavy stone. The difference was obviously in the weighing with tare, i.e. gross. The amount fluctuated regionally and depending on the goods. Average value was:

  • 1 kamien / stone = 10.1376 kilograms
  • Wool 1 Kanien / stone (heavy) = 12.976128 kilograms
  • 4 kamien / stone = 1 watner = 100 funta / pound = 1600 ounces = 3200 lot = 12800 drachm = 40320 grams
