Kampatimar Shankariya

Kampatimar Shankariya (* 1952 in Jaipur ; † May 16, 1979 ibid) was an Indian serial killer.

He was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan , in 1952 and was arrested at the age of 26. He confessed to having killed at least 70 people for pleasure between 1973–1974. He killed his victims by hitting them on the neck below the ears with a hammer, which earned him the nickname Kanpatimar (literally: "one who hits under the ears"). He was caught in early 1974, sentenced in 1979, and hanged in Jaipur on May 16, 1979. The time in prison had given him insight. He confessed: "I committed murders unnecessarily, nobody should be like me."
