Kanako Yonekura
Kanako Yonekura ( Japanese 米 倉 加奈 子 , Yonekura Kanako ; born October 29, 1976 in Kodaira , Tokyo Prefecture ) is a badminton player from Japan .
Career
Her former major success in badminton was in the 9th grade when she landed on the court at the Japanese Middle School Championships. Then she attended the private Jōsō-Gakuin high school in Tsuchiura , to which the players Yūya Komatsuzaki , Shūichi Sakamoto or Shizuka Yamamoto also went. During her studies at Tsukuba International University , she won the Japanese student championships three times in a row from 1996 . After graduating, she joined the Ibaraki Toyopet company.
Kanako Yonekura won her first all-Japanese championship title in women's singles in 2000. In 2005 she made it to the top of the podium again.
She took part in the Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004. In her first participation, she made it to the third round and was ninth, four years later she was eliminated in round one. At the 2001 World Badminton Championships she was in the quarterfinals. In 1998 she won the Asian Games.
