Kanal C is an independent training and further education program for young radio listeners, which is financed by the Bavarian State Center for New Media (BLM). The three-hour program includes contributions, features, news and information about politics, universities, sports, culture and music and is broadcast on Mondays from 9:50 p.m. to 12:50 a.m. on the frequency of the Augsburg local station Radio Fantasy (FM 93.4 MHz).
concept
Through practical radio work, Kanal C enables interested young journalists to learn how to use editing and broadcast technology, program planning, producing built-in reports, live experience in dealing with news and interviews, moderation of the live broadcast, as well as editorial work deepen. Kanal C also organizes radio seminars and workshops, including on the areas of media speech, interviewing and moderation.
Kanal C is a magazine with a mixture of music, culture and news. Fixed components of the program are therefore the hourly university and world news, important cultural information, the “recommendation of the week” and a selection of music that plays outside the mainstream. In addition, there are current, entertaining and informative articles of all kinds. The palette ranges from live-on-tape reports and studio guests to “cinema tips” and album reviews. The general rules of a successful, modern radio are observed, without wanting to set too many limits to creativity. With its choice of music and topics, Kanal C occupies a niche in the radio sector that is otherwise not served in this form by any other Augsburg station.
history
The idea was born on the basis of a diploma thesis by two students on the feasibility of a university radio in Augsburg. Together with about ten fellow students, a six-month plan was planned and a broadcast concept was created. The project was supported by the Augsburg radio station Radio Fantasy . On July 1, 1997, the project of the first and so far only Augsburg campus radio started. It celebrated its premiere with a two-hour program, Tuesday night from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. The first season consisted of four and the second of seventeen programs, since May 1999 Channel C has broadcast every week. The broadcasting time has now been extended: what started out as two hours on Tuesday became three hours on Monday. The start of broadcasting was also postponed from 10:00 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. Since April 14, 2014, Kanal C has been one of the few training and further education radio stations to have its own sound packaging (jingles, music beds, etc.).
program
The three-hour program on channel C is broadcast every Monday from 9:50 p.m. on the 93.4 MHz FM frequency of Radio Fantasy . The Augsburg local broadcaster has supported the project since it was founded. In addition, a continuous live stream is offered on the official website .
