Kandinsky Prize

Awarded the Kandinsky Prize 2011

The Russian Kandinsky Prize , named after the Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky , was created in 2007 to promote contemporary Russian art and promote the reputation of Russian art worldwide. It is sponsored by Deutsche Bank and the Art Chronika Kulturstiftung. The art prize is analogous to the British Turner Prize .

Categories

From 2007 to 2011, prizes were awarded in the three categories Project of the Year , Young Artist. Project of the Year and Media Art. Project of the Year awarded. The latter was abolished in 2012, and the Scholarly work category was added in 2014 . History and theory of contemporary art added. At the time of its first award in 2007, the financial endowment for the category Artist of the Year was 40,000 euros, the sponsor of the Media Art. Project of the Year received 10,000 euros.
