Falko Dressler (born December 2, 1971 in Dresden ) is a German computer scientist and holder of the Chair for Distributed Embedded Systems at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute at the University of Paderborn .

Career

Dressler studied computer science at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg until his diploma in 1998. He received his doctorate there in 2003 on the subject of Monitoring of Multicast Networks for Time-Synchronous Communication . Dressler then worked from 2003 to 2004 as a research assistant at the Wilhelm Schickard Institute for Computer Science at the University of Tübingen .

From 2004 to 2010 Dressler worked as a research assistant at the chair for computer science (computer networks and communication systems) at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . In 2009 he also completed his habilitation there on the subject of self-organization in sensor and actor networks .

In 2010 and 2011 he held the position of Academic Senior Council at the Chair for Computer Science (Computer Networks and Communication Systems) in Erlangen, before taking up his professorship in Innsbruck from 2011 to 2014. There he headed the chair for computer engineering at the Institute for Computer Science .

From 2014 to 2020 Dressler held the chair for Distributed Embedded Systems at the University of Paderborn . From 2016 to 2020 the chair was part of the Heinz Nixdorf Institute at the University of Paderborn.

Dressler has held the chair for Data Communications and Networking at the TU Berlin since 2020 .

Dressler has been on the steering committee of the Communication and Distributed Systems department of the Society for Computer Science since 2009 . He has been the spokesperson for this specialist group since 2017.

Since 2014 he has also been on the Advisory Board of University Professors (GIBU) . Dressler has been a member of the Senate of the University of Paderborn since 2015 .

Dressler has been on the board of the Heinz Nixdorf Institute and on the executive board of the L-LAB (University of Paderborn / Hella KGaA) since 2016.
