Canvas
The canvas ( French . Canevas to lat . Cannabis , " hemp ") is a fabric of highly twisted yarn (whether cotton, linen, silk, or wool) square with regular intervals, which as a basis ( canvas ) for wool embroidery is used. Canvas is also used as a light lining for clothing.
Among other things, it was made in Germany (Prussia) in the 18th century.
Canvas is still used in shoe production in the 20th and 21st centuries , in Europe as well as in the USA . It is also used as a base for wall hangings and other embroidery.
