The Kangari Hills Forest Reserve ( English Kangari Hills Forest Reserve ) is a forest reserve without hunting in the West African Sierra Leone . The protected area lies at an altitude of 200 to 600 m and was proclaimed as one of the first protected areas in the country in 1924. It has an area of 212.1 square kilometers and is located in the Southern Province .
Vegetation, flora and fauna
The protected area consists of around 65 percent evergreen tropical wet forest and 20 percent savannah . The forest reserve is home to numerous rare bird and mammal species, including leopards and elephants . Chimpanzees were found in small numbers (as of 2010).
