The canon is a type size in lead type with a cone height of 36 Didot points , which corresponds to 13,538 mm. It corresponds to three cicero . The equivalent in 36 DTP points is 12.7 mm, or half an inch .

The name canon goes back to the traditional typesetting of the central part of the missal of the Catholic Church , which bears the name canon (see  Prayer ).
