The Kantosi (also Kantonsi , Yare , Yarsi and Dagaare-Dioula ) is an endangered Ghanaian language with only 2,300 speakers (2003 GILLBT ) including 280 to 400 speakers in the Sandema District , probably around 280 in Kpaliwongo. It is the mother tongue of the Kantosi people.
In the central north of Ghana, the Sandema District, on the edge of the Bulsa (Buli) language area. Other settlements are near Wa , in Navrongo , Bolgatonga, Nalerigu and Kpaliwogo.
The Kantosi call Kpaliwongo, a village southeast of the Funsi ( Upper West Region ), the place of their origin. Kantosi is also spoken in Burkina Faso.
Kantosi is close to Kamara , Farefare and Dagbani .
