The Kantplatz in Hanover is a central square in the Kleefeld district , which belongs to the Buchholz-Kleefeld district. The square is named after the German philosopher Immanuel Kant .

Location and description

It is located to the south right next to Kirchröder Strasse, which begins shortly before on Scheidestrasse and runs through the Kleefeld district as a central traffic artery with numerous shops and public facilities.

The Kantplatz is an almost rectangular grass area with an area of ​​about 30 by 60 meters on which there are a few individual trees. It is bordered on the three other sides by the villas of the Philosopher's Quarter, which is adjacent to it on this side of Kirchröder Strasse.

On the side facing Kirchröder Strasse there is a large kiosk, a bus shelter, public toilets and on the corner of this side a taxi stand. While the adjacent streets on the western and eastern side are called Kantplatz, the southern side is called Fichtestrasse; From there, Kantstrasse leads to the Hanover city forest Eilenriede after approx. 80 meters .

The shops on the opposite side of Kirchröder Straße from Kantplatz include: a. the Café Kleefelder Kaffeeklatsch and the Kleefelder Buchhandlung .

At the Kantplatz stop named after the square, bus lines 127 in the direction of Misburg and 137 in the direction of List, both of which have their other end point at the neighboring horse tower, meet with lines 4 (Garbsen – Roderbruch) and 5 (Stöcken – Anderten) of the Hanover city railway . Since December 2010, the trams have had an elevated platform in the middle of Kirchröder Straße.
