The Cape Cartwright is a cape of the island Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It forms the western extension of the Laurens Peninsula .
The headland is named after Lieutenant Commander I. Cartwright of the Royal Australian Navy , captain of HMAS Labuan for supplying the Australian research station on Heard in 1951.
