Cape Irwyn is a rocky cape in the Ross Dependency of Antarctica . On the Dufek Coast , it juts into the Ross Ice Shelf as the northern branch of the Lillie Range in the Prince Olav Mountains .
The southern group of a campaign carried out from 1963 to 1964 as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition named the cape after Irwyn Smith, who maintained contact with this group as a radio operator at Scott Base .
