Cape Tschaplin , also Cape Tschaplino ( Russian Мыс Чаплина Mys Tschaplina ; Eskimo- Aleut Angasik ), is a cape in the northern Bering Sea , southwest of the Bering Strait, located in the autonomous district of Chukotka , Raion (district) Prowidenja. The area was first described, measured and mapped by the navigator Count Fyodor Petrovich during the Estonian Kamchatka Expedition (1728 to 1730). The cape was named in honor of the expedition member, Lieutenant to the Sea Pyotr Avraamowitsch Chaplin.
