St. Petri Chapel (Volzendorf)

The St. Petri Chapel is the evangelical church in Volzendorf . The chapel is part of the municipality of parish Lemgow in the church district Lüchow-Dannenberg .

description

When it was built in the 14th century, the small stone church formed the entrance to the village laid out as a round . On the east gable, ogival niches are made with bricks.

After the village expanded, the chapel was expanded. On the western side, a church tower made of bricks was added to it, which ends at the top with a pointed helmet . Its design clearly shows neo-Gothic elements.

In the interior there are larger remains of wall paintings. They are dated to the years 1554 and 1661.
