The chapel of St. Stapinus in Klokočka , district of Bakov nad Jizerou , is dedicated to St. Stapin and also to St. Prokop . The baroque monument stands in the forest on the right bank of the Jizera and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

history

Countess Marie Margarete Waldstein had the chapel built between 1724 and 1730 near an older wooden sanctuary that was demolished in 1811. The chapel was built to thank a family member for healing with the water from a local spring, which has since been said to have healing properties. The chapel was later also dedicated to St. Prokop, who is even more often used today to denote the chapel.

Exterior

The building on a stone terrace rests on three arcades and is decorated with statues of Saints Ivan and John of Nepomuk . The statue of the latter was moved to the chapel building in 2011.

It is an elliptical Baroque style main building with a semicircular presbytery and a flat facade divided by pilasters and semicircular windows. The interior is decorated with pilasters that support a barrel vault with lunettes.

The main altar is baroque from 1742. The altarpiece of St. Stapin (Czech St. Stafin ) is carried by angels. Two side altars with Saint Tekly and Saint Kamila are in the Rococo style from 1794.
