Klokočka is a district of the city of Bakov nad Jizerou in the Czech Republic . It is located about 3.7 kilometers northwest of the city in the valley of the Rokytka brook and consists of a baroque ensemble of buildings with a chapel and forester's house. The buildings surround a cold mineral spring , which is considered to be medicinal. The name Klokočka is derived from a pimpernut ( Klokoč in Czech ) that originally grew above the spring. Klokočka has seven permanent residents.
history
Directly above the outlet of the water, Countess Marie Margarethe von Waldstein had a stone chapel built in place of an older wooden building in the years 1724–30 and consecrated to St. Stapinus , the patron saint of gout sufferers. The consecration took place on July 4th, the day of St. Procopius ; the church therefore bears the popular name Prokop Chapel. The elliptical building with a semicircular presbytery has a baroque altar from 1742 with a picture of St. Stapinus and rococo side altars from 1794. On the terrace that covers the spring there are two statues of saints Ivan and John Nepomuk .
Also in the 1720s, a small spa was built near the source . The bathroom was in operation until the end of the 18th century, when it went out of fashion and was closed. The main building has served as a forester's house since 1832 . In 1843 it was redesigned in the classicism style.
A section of the wooded, humid valley of the Bělá brook, which naturally meanders here, has been under nature protection as the Klokočka National Natural Monument since 1956 . Somewhat away from the settlement, one of the two Czech sites of the Siberian gold piston is protected here on 2.37 hectares . A large population of the bellied diaper snail also settles here . Both species are considered glacial relics at this location .
The forest house and the chapel can be reached on a side road from Bakov or Ptýrov. The spring is open to the public and drinking water can be taken. There are no marked paths through the reserve.
