The Cape pygmy owl ( Glaucidium capense , syn .: Taenioglaux capense ) is an owl from the family of actual owls native to Africa .
features
The Cape pygmy owl is a small owl with no ear tufts at 20 cm. The females are usually larger than their male counterparts, but they do not differ in their plumage. The owl's habitat is high forest and scrubland, mostly near water. The mostly crepuscular and nocturnal animal feeds on insects, lizards and small snakes, smaller rodents or birds are also more rarely captured.

Its distribution area extends over the states of Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland.
