The former monastery and parish church Linz-St. Matthias is in downtown Linz in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Matthias belonged to the dean's office in Linz-Mitte in the diocese of Linz . The building is a listed building .

history

The Capuchin monastery with church was built after the laying of the foundation stone by Abbot Alexander a Lacu from 1606 to 1612 by master builder Christoph Martin Spaz and consecrated on September 2, 1612 by Passau Auxiliary Bishop Johannes Prenner . In 1985 the interior was redesigned by Friedrich Goffitzer . Most of the furnishings were made by Waltraud Goffitzer-Thalhammer and Alfred Stifter . The monastery was abolished in 1991, the church served as a parish church until it was profaned by Vicar Bishop Johann Hintermaier on July 3, 2016.
