Capuchin monastery in Bezau
The Capuchin Monastery in Bezau is a former Capuchin monastery in the Platz part of Bezau ( Vorarlberg ). It is used by Polish Franciscans . An east-facing church as part of a square monastery building was built with the laying of the foundation stone in 1655 and consecrated in 1656 on the patronage of the discovery of the Holy Cross. When the monastery was rebuilt in 1904, a new monastery church was built from 1906 to 1907, whereby the previous church was retained as the Lourdes Chapel and is accessible via the church on the north side.
The Capuchin monastery was given up in 1975 by the Austrian Order Province and taken over by Polish Franciscans in 1977. Part of the monastery was used as an educational center.
Church of the Finding of the Cross
The Church of the Finding of the Cross consists of a nave with a shallow barrel with deep stitch caps with a straight choir. It is uniformly equipped with wood in romanticizing late historical styles. These include the altars, the pulpit, the communion grille, the prayer benches and the organ gallery. At the high altar there is a crucifixion group with assistance figures and at the right side altar there is the figure of St. Anthony of Padua by Franz Bertle . At the left side altar there is a miraculous image of the Czenstochauer Maria . The artistic equipment from 1907 comes from the Capuchin brother Wenzel Schnitzer.
Lourdes Chapel
The Lourdes Chapel as the previous church is a large chapel with a groin vault. Altars, confessionals and prayer benches are in the same style as in the main church.
