from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karagoromo Kisshū ( Japanese 唐 衣 橘 洲 ; * January 18, 1743 in Edo ; † August 15, 1802 ), real name: Kojima Gennosuke ( 小島 源 之 助 ), was a Japanese poet.

Little is known about the living conditions of Kisshū, who came from a samurai family. He formed a group of poets with Ōta Nampo and Akera Kankō (Yamazaki Gōnosuke) and was one of the most important representatives of the humorous Kyōka poetry of his time. He published two anthologies of Kyōka poems: Kyōka wakaba shū ( 狂歌 若 葉 集 ; 1783) and Suichikushū ( 酔 竹 集 ; 1802).
