Karel of St. Andrew (civil: Johannes Andreas Houben; born December 11, 1821 in Munstergeleen , Netherlands, † January 5, 1893 in Dublin , Ireland) was a Dutch priest and passionist. He is a saint in the Catholic Church.

Johannes Houben joined the Passionist Order in 1845 and took the religious name Karel of St. Andrew . He was ordained a priest in 1850. Charles first worked in various convents of his order in England. Finally, in 1857, he was transferred to Mount Argus Monastery , where he worked almost until his death. Karl was valued by the population as a popular and successful confessor and soul guide. Allegedly he had the gift of healing the sick.

Karel of St. Andrew was beatified in 1988 by Pope John Paul II and in 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. canonized.
