Karelia is a French heavy metal band formed in 2000 by Lionel Vest and Matthieu Kleiber.

history

Karelia's first release was a demo of the same name in 2000.

Her first album, Usual Tragedy , was released in 2004 on the German record company Drakkar Records . It consisted of many orchestral arrangements, which is why the band is counted as symphonic metal . Usual Tragedy is a concept album about a man who went through both world wars.

Their second studio album, Raise , also released on Drakkar Records in 2005, is not as orchestral as Usual Tragedy , but has the same dark, melancholy atmosphere as the first album.

In January 2007 the keyboardist Bertrand Maillot left the band and Jack Ruesch was hired as the second guitarist.

In June 2007 Karelia finished recording her third album Restless . The album was originally due to be released in September / October 2007. The album was not released until April 2008 on the French label Season Of Mist.

In autumn 2007 Karelia played as the opening act for the three French concerts of the Scorpions . In 2010 the band performed again at the French concerts of the Scorpions.
